November 7th through the 11th has been designated Kids’ Chance Awareness Week.  Kids’ Chance is a non-profit organization that raises money and provides scholarships to children of workers who are seriously injured or killed in the course of employment.  Kids’ Chance is organized as individual state chapters and is supported by a national organization, Kids’ Chance of America.

The first Kids’ Chance was started in Atlanta, Georgia in 1988, and Kids’ Chance now has a presence in all 50 states.  Since its inception, the Kids’ Chance organizations have awarded over 9,300 scholarships, totaling more than $33,200,000.  Kids’ Chance of Maine is one of the newest chapters in the country, formed in July of 2019.  It was founded by individual representatives of employers, organized labor, insurance companies, plaintiff attorneys, medical providers and defense attorneys in Maine.  Acadia Insurance is proud to be represented on the Kids’ Chance of Maine board of directors.

As a non-profit organization, Kids’ Chance relies on charitable donations to fulfil its mission – providing educational scholarships to children of seriously or fatally injured workers.  For more information about Kids’ Chance and to find your state chapter, please visit www.kidschance.org.
