WESTBROOK, Maine (June 30, 2017) – Acadia Insurance, a Berkley Company®, is expanding its Employment Related Practices Liability (EPLI) coverage with the addition of Crisis Event Communication Expense Reimbursement coverage. Available November 1, this coverage helps businesses maintain their reputation by managing unforeseen expenses during a major media crisis, including costs for professional public relations and legal counsel.
With the prevalence of social media and a continuous news cycle, information travels quickly – especially during an incident that impacts or threatens people’s physical well-being. This eclectic variety of media outlets also increases potential for the dissemination of false information. For this reason, a company’s response directly following a crisis can play a critical role in its eventual outcome.
Crisis Event Communication Expense Reimbursement Coverage is available to new and existing customers as part of Acadia’s EPLI product. In the event of a covered crisis, this endorsement provides up to $100,000 per insured crisis occurrence and a $100,000 aggregate limit per policy year.
“A quick and concise response relaying proper messaging is a vital step in controlling the narrative of a crisis, and can be a daunting task for a business owner not accustomed to dealing with the media” said Dave LeBlanc, chief underwriting officer, Acadia Insurance. “This coverage helps our clients cover the costs of hiring professionals, including a public relations firm and legal counsel, to handle the event and manage media communications.”
