What is ClosePay?

ClosePay is considered a “Pay-As-You-Go” billing option which allows you to pay workers compensation insurance premiums based on your actual payroll (not projected annual payroll). If payroll and classification information is correctly submitted end of the term premium audit adjustments are typically minimal. Please note that an end of the term premium audit is still completed on ClosePay. This audit calculates your final premium and you can still have an additional premium on the ClosePay billing plan.

Not all clients have the administrative staff to upload their payroll reports on a scheduled basis. If you are unable to manage the ClosePay process, please let us know and we will offer you other payment options.

Is there a cost associated with the ClosePay billing option?

No. This is a billing option open to any customer who meets our qualification standards.  (but see ADP below)

Is a down payment required on this pay plan?

No.

What are the qualifications to the ClosePay plan?

ClosePay is only available for customers with an annual Workers Compensation Premium over $5,000. It is only available at the time of new business or renewal (cannot be added mid-term).

Which policies are eligible for ClosePay?

Only Workers Compensation policies are eligible for this billing option.

I don’t work with a payroll company can I still go on ClosePay?

Yes. The Smart Pay portal allows customers to self-report payroll information.

I work with ADP or PayChex. Am I eligible for the ClosePay plan?

Yes. You can either self-report payroll information or for a $250 annual fee Smart Pay can work directly with ADP or Paychex. Please note that this agreement and fee is a separate contract between you and Smart Pay. Certain requirements must be met in order for you to be eligible for this service.
