Douglas M. Nelson
Doug Nelson joined Acadia Insurance Company as President in December 2011. He has more than 20 years of property casualty insurance with a major carrier, where he held several senior management roles, including COO of National Markets, President of Property, and Division Senior Vice President for New England. Most recently, Doug served as Executive Vice President and General Manager for Major Accounts.
Doug earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Connecticut, and his MS in Finance from Boston College. He is married with two children, and resides in Maine.
David LeBlanc • CPCU
David LeBlanc graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a degree in Economics and began his career as an underwriter in Liberty Mutual’s Motor Transport department in Boston. He joined Acadia Insurance in 2005 as Vice President, Specialty Marine. Dave currently lives in Maine with his family.
Vivian Bunton • CPCU, CIC, AAI
Assistant Vice President, Small Commercial
Vivian joined Acadia Insurance Company as AVP of Small Commercial insurance in November, 2013. Vivian is responsible for the development and execution of the small commercial strategy for the company. Her insurance experience extends for over 25 years. She has held leadership roles with various carriers with a primary focus on the Small Business marketplace.
Vivian earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts, and a Masters in Educational Research and Evaluation from Boston University. She resides with her husband in Scarborough, Maine.
John Elias • J.D., M.B.A.
Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer
John Elias joined Acadia Insurance Company as SVP and Chief Underwriting Officer in January 2020. He is a graduate from the University of Akron with a J.D. degree, and he earned his M.B.A from Grantham University. John spent almost 15 years managing underwriting and compliance operations for regional property and casualty carriers. Recently, John served as the Insurance Commissioner for the state of New Hampshire. He is currently relocating to Maine.
Keith Gleason • CPCU, AIC, SCLA
Assistant Vice President, Claims
Keith Gleason joined Acadia Insurance Company in 2003 as a Claims Trainee. Since then he has held various positions within Claims handling both property and casualty losses, progressing to handling complex and high exposure claims in our Major Case Unit. Since 2013, Keith has provided leadership for our property claims team, most recently as the Property Claims Manager.
Keith earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern Maine, and has his CPCU, AIC and SCLA designations. He resides with his family in Maine.
Joel Glockler • FCAS, MAAA
Vice President, Chief Actuary
Joel Glockler joined Acadia Insurance Company as Vice President and Chief Actuary in March 2009. During his 12 years in property and casualty insurance, he has held various actuarial positions with two national insurance companies, OneBeacon and Travelers. He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
Joel earned his bachelor’s degree in operation research from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He is married with three children, and resides in Falmouth, Maine.
Charles A. Hamblen • CPA, CPCU
Senior Vice President, Finance; Chief Financial Officer
Charles Hamblen, CPA, CPCU joined Acadia Insurance Company in 1992. Prior experience includes 9 years at various positions in regulation, a CPA firm and non-related industry. He is also CFO for two other WRBC affiliates; Berkley Surety Group and Regional Excess Underwriters.
Charlie earned a BS in accounting from San Diego State University in 1983. He is married with four children, and resides in Gorham, Maine.
Lisa M. Kilbreth • CPCU
Regional Vice President, Twin States Branch Manager
Lisa is Regional Vice President/Branch Manager for NH and VT. She joined Acadia in October, 2011 after serving nearly 23 years in the insurance industry. She began her underwriting career in 1994 and throughout the years progressed into a range of positions – Consulting Underwriter, Managing Underwriter, Regional Underwriting Manager and HO Field Operations Director. In addition, Lisa earned significant recognition for her performance at Liberty including the Peerless Top 10% Award, Liberty Mutual Bravo Award, and the Sustained High Performer Award. Lisa earned her CPCU Designation in 1997. She a graduate of the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire. She resides in Manchester, NH with her husband Mark and their children, Marissa and Bradley.
Matt McManus • CPCU
Assistant Vice President, Specialty Marine
Matt McManus joined Acadia Insurance Company in 2007 as an Underwriter Trainee. In his tenure with Acadia, he has held various Underwriting positions, including his latest role as Underwriting Director of the Maine Branch. Matt also spent time as a Team Leader in Acadia’s South Burlington, VT office. He earned the CPCU designation in 2011.
Matt earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of New England in Biddeford, ME. He currently resides in Scarborough, ME with his wife and two sons.

Assistant Vice President, Loss Control
Lisa McPhail joined Acadia Insurance Company in 2013 as an Loss Control Representative. She held the position as Loss Control Director in the Twin States from 2015-2019. She was promoted to her current role as Assistant Vice President of Loss Control in 2019. Lisa holds the ARM and CRIS designations.
Lisa earned her bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Applied Science from the Keene State College in Keene, NH. She currently resides in Londonderry, NH.
Tim Morse • MBA
Regional Vice President, New York Branch Manager
Tim joined Acadia in 2013 as a Senior Inland Marine Underwriter and in 2014 was promoted to Team Leader. Tim began his insurance career in Claims, and then moved to various underwriting positions, including Inland Marine Underwriting Specialist in June 2008 with a major insurance company. In June of 2011, Tim joined another insurance company as production underwriter. In his capacity Tim had the opportunity to work on large property driven accounts throughout the United States. Tim is a graduate of Salem State University with a BA in Criminal Justice and in 2012 he received his MBA from Anna Maria College in Paxton Mass.

Regional Vice President, Massachusetts Branch Manager
Sharon Pontes joined Acadia in 2000 after a career leading the Underwriting function for the New England Branch at CNA Insurance. Prior to CNA, she worked for Trust Insurance and Carlin Insurance. She is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, with a BS in Business Administration.

Steve Rich joined Acadia Insurance Company in June 1992 as Director Workers Compensation Claims. During his 25 years in property and casualty insurance, he has held various claim management positions, including the past 8 years as Vice President Claims at Acadia.
Steve earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Southern Maine, and has his CPCU, AIC, and CCLA designations. He is married with two children, and resides in Windham, Maine.
Katherine Rolfe • CPCU, SCLA, AIC, CRIS
Vice President Claims
Katherine joined Acadia Insurance Company in May 2013. She has 20 years of experience in insurance with 18 years in the property casualty field including Workers Compensation and Casualty Claims. She has held varying leadership roles including front line claims management, training and development, and quality audit.
Katherine earned her bachelor’s degree from Castleton State College in Vermont, her Master’s at The University of Southern Maine and has her AIC and SCLA designations. She resides with her family in Gorham, Maine.
Vice President, General Counsel
Dan Swift joined Acadia Insurance as Counsel in 2004. He currently serves as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. In this capacity, he handles a variety of legal matters across all functional departments of the company and manages the day to day affairs of Legal Services, including government relations and compliance. Dan has over 15 years experience in Insurance and Corporate law, having previously worked in the corporate legal department at another New England carrier and serving as staff counsel in the Massachusetts Division of Insurance and the Maine Bureau of Insurance.
Dan earned his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan and his Law degree at the New England School of Law. He is married with two children and resides in Augusta, Maine.
Jennifer Towne • CIC
Assistant Vice President, Marketing & Strategic Markets
Jennifer Towne joined Acadia Insurance Company in 2010. In her current role, Jennifer is responsible for the development and execution of the corporate marketing strategy for the company. Jennifer has over 10 years of property casualty experience, working previously for a national carrier overseeing the marketing for several specialty units.
Jennifer graduated with her B.A. in English from the University of St. Joseph, and earned her MBA from the University of Connecticut. Jennifer is married with one child, and resides with her family in Biddeford, Maine.
Regional Vice President, Connecticut Branch Manager
Artemis joined Acadia as the Marketing Director in the Connecticut branch in 2006. Prior to that she held leadership positions with several national carriers which included jobs in underwriting, distribution management and operations. Artemis holds an A.B. in Classics from Franklin & Marshall College. She sits on the Board of Trustees of the Friendship Center in New Britain, Connecticut and on the Board of Directors of the Lumber Dealers Association of Connecticut.
Artemis and her husband have two sons and reside in Simsbury, Connecticut.
Joe Tuminelli • PMP
Vice President, Chief Information Officer
Joe joined Acadia Insurance Company in 2019 as CIO after spending 5 years as part of the leadership team for two other Berkley companies.He is an IT professional with over 30 years of experience working in the financial services and insurance industries, where he’s led IT teams focused on program and project management, vendor management, strategic planning, and application development. Most recently, he served as the Director, Wholesale Insurance Systems, for Markel Corporation.
Joe earned a BS in Computer Information System from Bentley University, as well as a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University. He and his family currently reside in Richmond VA.

Vice President, Human Resources
Kay Whitmore joined Acadia Insurance Company as Vice President, Human Resources in May 2001. Prior to Acadia, Kay held various leadership and speciality roles at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maine and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and has expertise in employee benefits, compensation, training and employee relations.
